3 Reasons to go to a salon instead of a barber shop

Hey everyone, sorry I've been away, I've been preparing for holidays and working a lot, also been sick so yeah... This time I'm writing about a topic of choosing a salon over the barber shop, which is especially important topic for men out there ;)

Salons and barber shops can both get the job done of grooming men. However, the two still have fine distinctions. If you are asking which of the two is better, this post could help you understand a salon and a barbershop better.

For years, we used to reserve salons as a place only for women. Now a lot has changed and you may see salons that focus on styling men. A salon may be more expensive than your traditional barber shop but you will get what you pay for. Aside from the haircut itself, you will get a soothing massage beforehand and a shampooing afterward. Here are some more reasons why it is better to head to the salon rather than to your local barber shop.

  1. You will get professional results with a salon.  Barbers are good at doing classic haircuts because they were trained to do so. A barbershop might be the place to go to if you are looking for traditional and shorter hairstyles. But if you are looking for textured or specialized hairstyles, better go to salon. Besides, salon stylists are well-trained about the latest hair trends. You may also ask your stylist what color suits your hair best in case you want a new haircolor, highlights, and lowlights.

  1. Salon stylists are more knowledgeable with styling products and nourishing treatment. You can save a lot more dollars with a barbershop simply because all you have to do is wait for your haircut to get done. In a salon, you will be treated with shampooing after your haircut. Professional hair stylists use only the best, such as the Aveda mens haircut to make sure that your hair gets treated with natural and safe products. Salons can give you deep conditioning treatments, which you will need especially if you have damaged hair.

  1. They can offer styling services for special occasions. Heading to an important event, like a wedding or a corporate dinner? It is important to look as presentable as possible and if you want to appear more fashion-forward, you should not miss the perfect hairstyle. The people at the salon can identify what style suits you based on the shape of your face or which color looks best on you.

There are salons that also offer maintenance consultation aside from the soothing shampoo and styling. You can expect to befriend your salon stylist, since the services they offer are longer. They are trained with customer-service skills. Usually, the people at the salon also earn cosmetology license so you can expect them to know a lot of things that concern grooming. They were trained to do hair straightening, full highlights, and facial waxes among others. The best part is that some salons serve as a one-stop grooming station that caters to men, women, and kids so you don’t have to go far to look beautiful! Book your appointment now and get ready to look your best.

Have a lovely day guys,
Katja

Empties #31

Hey guys.

Another month, another empties post. I gathered quite a lot this time, let's just start ;)

Balea Mizellen Reinigungs Tucher - my favourite cleansing wipes for days I don't feel like properly removing my makeup aka I'm too lazy too :P They're infused with micellar water and they really thoroughly remove your makeup.

Repurchase: Definitely.

Avon Senses Peaceful Reflection Shower Creme - honestly, this is my favourite shower creme from Avon I ever tried. I bought it on sale and loved the scent of it. It smelled like orchids and raspberries, absolutely amazing.

Repurchase: I will in the future.

Nuface Prep-N-Glow - one of the products I received in my Lookfantastic beauty box. Unfortunately it was just a sample, but it was a textured cleansing cloth that's suppose to cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate at the same time. I really loved the concept and would totally be interesting in purchasing the actual product.

Purchase: Maybe.

Balea Trocken Shampoo - dry shampoo that didn't exactly work for my hair. It helped a little bit but I definitely wasn't satisfied.

Repurchase: No.

Balea Kopfhaut Control Shampoo - since I have problems with dandruff and greasy hair I decided to buy this shampoo because I heard great reviews, plus it's very affordable. It didn't help with dandruff unfortunately.

Repurchase: No.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors - I heard many things about the Ordinary products, so I was very excited when this moisturizer came in the LookFantastic beauty box. It wasn't as amazing as I thought, I actually found another one from Caudalie that I love more, but it was great, I did like it a lot though.

Purchase: Maybe in the future.

StarSkin Smoothing Bio-Cellulose Second Skin Eye Masks - these are patches for under eyes. I liked the effect it gave my skin. Also got it in Lookfantastic box.

Purchase: probably not.

Avon NutraEffects Velvet Soft Moisture - got this cream as a gift with purchase from Avon and I really loved it. It smelled really nice plus it's quite thick and really nourishes the skin. Perfect for very dry skin types.

Repurchase: Maybe.

Avon Anew Complete Renewal Foaming Cream Cleanser - I didn't like this one, it burned my eyes when I was removing my makeup with it. On the other hand it left my skin feeling very soft.

Repurchase: No.

Hope you enjoyed! Happy Sunday <3

First Impressions: Avon Mark Glow On Natural Radiance Foundation

Hey guys :)

Today's first impressions are about the Avon's newest addition to their foundations - Mark Glow On Natural Radiance foundation.

You get 30 ml of product for around 5€. The packaging is plastic and it looks quite cheap to be honest. It's suppose to give your base a boost as you create the healthiest-looking glow of your life. You can wear this alone to help brighten, blur imperfections and even skin tone, or it can be worn under makeup as a pore - minimizing, radiance boosting base. You can also use it over makeup as a targeted highlighter. It's all up to you. I chose to wear it alone, as a foundation.

A lot of ingredients, first few mostly consist of water, fragrance, moisturizer, sunscreen (safety hazard of 6 on cosdna and another one of 8). I got mine in shade Shell.

I really don't like the scent of it, it bothers me quite a lot and I'm usually not sensitive to scents; but I can't smell it when it's on my face at all.

The coverage is light which is good for summer, but I need more coverage for work days. I haven't used it as a base for foundation yet, so I'm not sure how it performs that way, but I'll be testing it more for sure.

.

I liked the glow it gave my skin otherwise, my skin looked very healthy and natural.

PROS:
- light coverage ideal for summer
- gives skin a lovely healthy glow
- different ways of using the product

CONS:
- the scent
- some ingredients rating high on the safety list

Hope you enjoyed, let me know if you'll buy this one! :)

Kisses,
Katja
