REVIEW: Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet

Hello cuties :)

Today I have for you a review of a Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick, which I got in a giveaway from lovely Astrid (you can check her blog HERE)

I've really wanted to try these lipsticks, because of the matte effect that they give. Currently I've been quite obsessed with matte lipsticks.

What Bourjois says: "Matte finish and incredibly light. Rouge Edition Velvet by Bourjois is the new era of lipsticks. An amazing, irresistible formula. Its soft, melting texture glides on to the lips and turns into a matt, velvety and incredibly light colour. Lips are left smooth and soft as velvet. Enriched with evanescent oils, it’s incredibly sensuous formula provides a soft, second-skin feel, without drying or fading lips."

The packaging is nice, I like the transparent bottle so you can obviously see the colour and the lipsticks also have a shade-tinted cap, which is also lovely. It has a standard foam applicator which makes the application easy, however I like to sometimes use my fingertips for a softer look.

The formula is creamy and applies glossy on the lips, but settles down to a matte finish in about 20 minutes (it does take quite long). I'd say at first when you apply it, it does transfer, however I noticed after about an hour wear, it didn't transfer at all when I was drinking. If you apply it with the applicator, it does apply a bit unevenly. I really don't like the chemical smell, but it's gone after you apply it on the lips. The formula (and the smell) of this reminds me of a Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer. Oh and it does stain the lips.

There are 6 shades available to chose from. I've got it in a shade 01 Personne Ne Rouge, which is a bright classic red. It is not meant only for the warm or cool skin tones, this one is for all. Being a matte lipstick, you really have to have perfect lips so I would advise not to apply this on chapped lips.

PROS:
- long lasting
- beautiful, travel friendly packaging
- stains the lips
- matte finish

CONS:
- chemical smell (might bother some people)
- quite expensive (but worth every € in my opinion)
- uneven application
- because it is matte, you have to have perfect lips

All in all, I've been loving this one since I got it, so Astrid - many thanks again for the lovely prize<3

I hope you all enjoyed this review and I really recommend this line of lipsticks, I'm quite sure I'll buy another shade, maybe a nude or a pink one ;) If you tried this line, please let me know your opinion ;)

xoxo,
Katja
